ROHAN FRANCIS

Rohan Francis was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in the Los Angeles area since the age of 1. As a youth, Rohan loved sci-fi cartoons, movies and television shows that involved machines or people flying. Speaking of people flying, he also loved basketball, and dreamed of playing in the NBA like his favorite ball players Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. He saw basketball as art in motion. He and friends often filmed themselves playing basketball. Rohan would then edit the highlight footage to music using two VCRs. Remember those things? In high school, Rohan wrote, directed, and starred in two short film projects. It was at that time he began thinking of a future in filmmaking.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Video at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, he returned home to Los Angeles where he got his start in the film industry as a Digital Media Coordinator/Video Editor for an indie film/tv distribution company. In December of 2020, Rohan earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts where he focused on writing and directing narrative sci-fi dramedies. Along with being a narrative filmmaker, Rohan also serves as an in-house Director/Maker for Steelhead, the production arm of Deutsch LA, a leading creative studio in the advertising industry.

Rohan loves spending time with family and friends, advocating for social justice, re-watching Battlestar Galactica (re-imaged version) a million times, Costco pizza, the LA Clippers, karaoke nights, and 90’s R&B music.
