[ Rohan Francis ]

         Rohan Francis was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in the Los Angeles area since the age of one. As a youth, Rohan participated in team sports. He loved basketball, and dreamed of playing in the NBA like his favorite ball players Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. He saw basketball as a fun art form. He and his friends often recorded themselves playing basketball. Rohan would then edit the highlight footage to music using two VCRs. Remember those things? While in the 11th grade, he joined his high school’s video production club. That same year he enrolled in a film/tv course where he wrote, directed, and starred in two short film projects. It was at that time he began thinking of a future in filmmaking. After high school, he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Video at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.

         After returning home to Los Angeles, Rohan got his start in the film industry as a Digital Media Coordinator/Promo trailer spot editor for an indie film/tv distribution company. He also freelanced as a filmmaker and editor. In a life changing move, he decided it was time to complete his training by applying to USC’s School of Cinematic Arts Film and Television Production MFA program. A school he dreamed of attending. Currently, Rohan is in his 2nd year at USC SCA where he’s focusing on writing and directing.

        Rohan loves spending time with family and friends, advocating for social justice, re-watching Battlestar Galactica (re-imaged version) a million times, Costco pizza, the LA Clippers, karaoke nights, and 90’s R&B music.
